Dr. Alvin Kraenzlein
Alvin Kraenzlein first started drawing attention for his speed in the
Milwaukee neighborhood where he grew up. He continued running through
prep and other levels of competition and then reached his peak at the
1900 Olympics.
Kraenzlein won four Gold Medals in those Games, a
feat that stood for years. He was said to have a fluid, yet powerful
stride and to look as comfortable running as most people do sleeping.
After his competitive track career, Kraenzlein practiced medicine.
